The next public meeting of the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Advisory Board will be held in person at the Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 1, in Albany, and virtually via WebEx on Wednesday, July 22, from 12 pm- 2 pm.
Meeting information, including the WebEx link, can be found on the OPWDD website here: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Board Meeting | Office for People With Developmental Disabilities
This meeting is open to the public and new attendees are always welcome.

The Members of the Board are tasked with several important duties including: studying and reviewing the effectiveness of supports and services currently being provided to people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders; identifying legislative and regulatory activity which may be required to improve existing service systems that support people diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; identifying methods for improving interagency coordination of services and maximizing the impact and effectiveness of services and agency functions; and, other matters as deemed appropriate by the Board.
More information about the Board is available on the OPWDD website.

Workshop This workshop provides a practical, evidence‑based foundation for understanding and shaping behavior in educational, therapeutic, and home settings. Participants will learn how to clearly define observable behavior, determine when intervention is appropriate, and identify replacement behaviors that support long‑term success. We will explore how antecedents and consequences influence behavior patterns, and how to use them strategically to promote positive change.
A focus of the training is the Function of Behavior Assessment (FBA) process—how to identify the underlying purpose of a behavior and use that information to guide intervention planning. Participants will also learn common data collection methods and how to use data to make informed decisions.
This session is ideal for educators, clinicians, paraprofessionals, and caregivers seeking a clear, actionable framework for understanding and shaping behavior effectively.
