ThinkDIFFERENTLY Conference 2021

The 5th Annual ThinkDIFFERENTLY Collaboration of Services and Care Across the Life Span for People with Special Needs Conference will be hosted virtually on December 2nd. This conference will guide families and providers through a series of discussions with a focus on planning for the care of someone with special needs. This year’s keynote speaker will be Karla Vermeulen, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at SUNY New Paltz. Our goal is to explore the benefits of collaborating and improving negotiating skills for services.

    The Intersection ofLGBTQ+, IDD, and Healthy Romantic Relationships

    December 9th from2-3:30 pm ET

     Join the National CouncilIDD Interest Group for a FREE training on improving service to members of theLGBTQ+ population who have intellectual and developmental disabilities andworking with this population around healthy relationships.

     Join the training to gaina better understanding of what it means to identify as and individual withintellectual and developmental disabilities and LGBTQ+ and the intersection ofthe two, how to be an ally, and how to have difficult conversations aroundhealthy romantic and sexual relationships.

    This training will be providedby Pauline Bosma, founder and coordinator of the Rainbow Support Groups (anetwork of support groups for self-advocates who are members both the IDD andLGBTQ+ communities) and Oscar Hughes, a PhD student at Boston University whodoes research on supporting LGBTQ+ adults with IDD.
