Ryan Lugo, a John Jay High School student, recently completed his Eagle scout project! Ryan planted a garden and built a path to the statue of St. Joseph on the grounds of St. Columba in Hopewell Junction. He dedicated the project to Rich Scampoli, who passed away from cancer in March of 2019, and his family. Ryan, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in third grade, has successfully worked his way through the scouting ranks! He and his father, Ray Lugo, credit the group with focusing on Ryan’s abilities, instead of his diagnosis, and empowering him to accomplish anything he sets his mind to! Congratulations, Ryan!!
