100 Cups of Coffee

Chief of Police, Thomas Pape attended Dutchess County’s 100 Cups of Coffee at Taconic Resources for Independence and was inspired by Jessica Rainy self-advocacy for more accessible public events. Police Chief Pape returned to the City of Poughkeepsie’s offices, reviewed their existing policy and process of public event permits and with the support of the City’s Mayor Rob Rolison, made what seemed a small change that held a sweeping effect for all City public events.  Chief Pape added the criteria that applications to the City of Poughkeepsie  from those who wish to hold a public events needed to attest if their event is accessible or not. When the affirmative box is not checked Chief Pape follows up to learn why and how it can be.  Thank you City of Poughkeepsie for Thinking Differently!
